Sabrina Carpenter was manifesting her deepest desires when she wrote one of her biggest hits.

In a new interview with The Guardian , the 25-year-old singer shared how her hit song "Espresso" was a "manifestation tactic" after it ended up being garnering her massive success, per People .

"It was a manifestation tactic, because no one like me romantically at that point — no one was obsessed with me ," she said. "I didn't have anyone I was even talking to."

The Disney Channel alum, who recently released her sixth studio album Short 'n Sweet in addition to her latest single "Taste," joked that she has "always been a bit delusional, in that sense" while also recognizing the hit track has led to success in the charts. However, that success wasn't the point but rather the "sprinkles on top of the sundae."

"Full transparency: I've never really been on charts until quite recently, so it's a newfound, like... I'm interested," she said. "It's not the reason I write music and it's not the reason I'll ever write music."

Since dropping "Espresso" earlier this year, the song has become a mainstay on pop radio and a favorite among fans, including another popular hitmaker: Adele . According to People , Carpenter recently spoke about how "mind-blowing" it is that the "Hello" singer knows about the song and even called "my jam" while speaking to the crowd at her Las Vegas residency in May.
