Big Sean got emotional while providing an update on his upcoming album.

The Detroit native hopped on Instagram Live on Monday, August 26, and explained why he delayed his forthcoming project, Better Me Than You . During the livestream, Sean admitted that he's a "chronic overthinker" and held back his tears as he tried to break down the meaning behind his sixth studio LP. At one point, he had to get up to compose himself.

“I am a chronic overthinker," Sean said. "I’m a chronic, constant worker. And I’ve been having a hard time lately, straight up. It’s not been easy… But it’s worth it."

“The whole concept of the album is like Better Me Than You , so when you go through your s**t, it’s like you the one who can handle it," he said while tears filled in his eyes. "It gets hard. Your faith gets tested."

Sean also revealed that he wanted to drop his album last week, but still wanted to put more final touches on it. Unfortunately, he contracted COVID which "put a wrench" in all his plans. He could've held on to the project and worked on it some more until it came out the way he wanted. However, he said his mom inspired him to drop it as is.

“When me and Jhené [Aiko] were giving our son a bath last night, my mom called me and she was just giving me them words,” he said. “And I was just like, Look, I can keep working and make it exactly how I want it and I’ll be pushing it back forever. Or I can believe in the fire-ass work that I got right now and that’s what I’ma do."

Big Sean reassured fans his album will drop this week. The album is expected to hold previously released tracks like "Precision," "Together Forever" featuring The Alchemist, "On Up," "Yes" and more. Look out for Better Me Than You out this Friday.
