    Watch Luke Bryan Pay Tribute To Toby Keith, Cover Late Legend's 90s Anthem

    Luke Bryan covered a classic Toby Keith anthem when he took the stage at Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

    Bryan took part in the star-studded lineup of Toby Keith: American Icon , a show honoring the late country legend who died in February after a years-long battle with stomach cancer. Bryan delivered his rendition of “ Should’ve Been a Cowboy ,” Keith’s smash-hit single that appeared on his 10-track, self-titled debut album in 1993. It remained one of the biggest hits of Keith’s decades-long career, among many other beloved songs .

    The full Toby Keith: American Icon lineup includes Trace Adkins , Priscilla Block , Luke Bryan , Eric Church , Jordan Davis , Scotty Emerick , Brantley Gilbert , Riley Green , HARDY , Tyler Hubbard , Jamey Johnson , Krystal Keith , Ella Langley , Mac McAnally , Ashley McBryde , Parker McCollum , Jelly Roll , Darius Rucker , Carrie Underwood , Clay Walker and Lainey Wilson . The show took place in late July, and will air as a two-hour special on Wednesday evening (August 28).

    Keith “passed peacefully…surrounded by his family.” He was 62. His loss was mourned in heartfelt tributes. Keith is survived by his wife, Tricia Lucus , and three children, Shelley Covel Rowland , Krystal Keith and Stelen Keith Covel .

    Toby Keith: American Icon will air as a two-hour television special on NBC on Wednesday, August 28 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
