Cardi B Fires Back At Critics Over Controversial Maternity Photos

Cardi B is snapping back at critics who accused her of using her new maternity photos to throw some shade.

Over the weekend, the pregnant artist debuted new images of her growing baby bump ahead of the birth of her third child . The photos show Bardi in a blue coat with her belly sticking out while she sat on a motorcycle. Cardi shared two photos from the maternity shoot along with an image of the child's sonogram. Unbeknownst to Bardi at the time, some people noticed something off about the background of her latest photos.

“Wanna meet my little boo boo soo bad already,” she wrote in the caption.

The motorcycle was parked in front of some blue and yellow graffiti that said "homesick." However, trolls online also noticed some thin, white lettering that spelled out "pedophile." They were quick to accuse Cardi of purposely posting the photos as a shot aimed at her nemesis Nicki Minaj , who's husband and brother had been reportedly charged with sexual assault against minors. On Monday, September 2, the "Enough" rapper claimed she didn't notice the eye-popping word during the shoot and argued that she had the photos edited quickly after the photoshoot was "leaked."

“First of all we literally picked a random street because paparazzi was hounding us everywhere," she explained. "This was supposed to be my original first picture and we had to edit the photos in minutes because the shoot got leaked. Didn’t even have time to go over every detail because people were busy trying to expose my pregnancy as ‘aha’ moment…Second I’m ALWAYS with the shits but I’m not using MY MATERNITY shoot to be funny. Are you dumb??”

Some critics didn't buy her explanation. One person in particular alleged that the artist had a whole team that could've caught the word in the background before she posted the photos. Cardi doubled down on her explanation and even provided proof that no one involved in the shoot noticed the word behind her.

"A team??" she wrote. "Btch my makeup artist touched up the picture because we didn’t have time for all that, it says the date and time nobody was paying attention to the graffiti… second if I wanted to be petty I would’ve posted a lot of memes last week.. I KEEP TELLIN YALL TO LEAVE ME THE F*K ALONE !! If I’m saying I’m not on that time DONT MAKE ME GET ON THAT TIME. Unrist yourself!!"

As she prepares to welcome her third child, Cardi B recently celebrated her first son Wave's birthday alongside her soon-to-be ex-husband Offset . Both rappers reunited over the weekend for a last-minute party for their three-year-old's upcoming birthday at American Dream water park in East Rutherford, N.J. The former couple hadn't been spotted together since Cardi filed for divorce last month.
