Four people were fatally shot while sleeping on a train in Chicago. Authorities said the suspect shot three people in one car and then one person in a second car on a Blue Line train heading to Forest Park. Police were called around 5:30 a.m. on Monday (September 2) after the train pulled into the 711 Desplaines Avenue stop.

Investigators used surveillance footage to locate the suspect about 90 minutes after the shooting.

"We believe he got off at the Forest Park stop, and he was apprehended at a Pink Line station in Chicago somewhere, so he may have gotten on a train going the opposite direction," Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins said .

The suspect's identity has not been released and officials have not determined a motive for the shooting.

Forest Park Deputy Chief Chris Chin told CNN that investigators believe all four victims were homeless .

"This obviously is shocking, you know, it is uncommon to have a mass shooting like this," said Chin. "This is an isolated incident, so it can happen anywhere. Obviously, there's a little bit more concern because it is on a mass transit system," he added. "For people to feel unsafe, it's justified."
