Actor Michael Keaton has decided to change his name after half-a-century in showbiz.

The 73-year-old Beetlejuice icon officially ditched his stage name after nearly 50 years in Hollywood, revealing to People in a September 4th interview that he's not even sure where the name came from in the first place.

"I was looking through—I can’t remember if it was a phone book. I must’ve gone, ‘I don’t know, let me think of something here.’ And I went, ‘Oh, that sounds reasonable.'"

And thus, Michael Keaton was born.

So, what exactly is the storied silver screen king's real name?

It's actually not too far off his stage name! Micheal Keaton's real name is Michael Douglas , and from now on, he's asking to be referred to as a mix of the two: Michael Keaton Douglas . In fact, he meant to use the three-fold alias in the credits of 2023's Knox Goes Away, but the idea slipped his mind. Despite being very adamant about reverting back to his roots after five decades as an actor, Keaton Douglas actually forgot he made the change upon the film's release last year.

"I said, ‘Hey, just as a warning, my credit is going to be Michael Keaton Douglas.’ And it totally got away from me. And I forgot to give them enough time to put it in and create that. But that will happen."

Check out Keaton Douglas in his latest film, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice , released September 6th, and Goodrich , out this fall!
