Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson suffered an MCL sprain and bone bruise during Sunday's (September 8) win against the Cleveland Browns , which will force him to miss time, NFL Network 's Ian Rapoport wrote on his X account Monday (September 9) morning.

"Tests revealed an MCL sprain for #Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson, which means he'll miss time. But overall good news and not season-ending," Rapoport wrote.

"It's a bone bruise and an MCL sprain for Jake Ferguson. Week to week," he added.

Ferguson appeared to acknowledge that he dodged a more serious injury by writing, "God is good!" on his X account Monday morning.

Ferguson was helped off the field during the third quarter of Sunday's game. The third-year tight end recorded three receptions for 15 yards prior to the injury.

Ferguson recorded a career-best 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns on 102 targets in 2023. Second-year tight end Luke Schoonmaker is expected to see more playing time in Ferguson's absence, though fullback Hunter Luepke saw an increase in targets after the injury on Sunday, recording two receptions for 18 yards.

Schoonmaker recorded eight receptions for 65 yards in 17 appearances last season. The Cowboys will host the New Orleans Saints at AT&T Stadium on Sunday (September 15).
