Jon Bon Jovi is being hailed as a hero for stopping a woman from jumping off a bridge in Nashville this week.

The Bon Jovi frontman reportedly talked a woman out of taking her own life on Tuesday (September 10) when he came across her standing over the railing of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Music City , which crosses the Cumberland River. According to Page Six , he was filming a music video for his song "People's House" when he and his team noticed the woman standing on the outside ledge of the bridge and clutching the handrails.

A harrowing video of the heart-stopping moment was shared by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on Wednesday, showing how the "Livin' On A Prayer" singer and another bystander slowly approached the woman to begin talking to her. While it's unclear what they may have said, it seemed to work as the video captured her allowing the others to help bring her back to safety.

Page Six reports that Bon Jovi doesn't plan to make a statement about the incident out of respect for the woman's privacy, but Nashville Police Chief John Drake praised the rocker for his honorable actions, adding, "It takes all of us to help keep each other safe."
