Lil Wayne has broken his silence on being passed over as the performer for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show after Kendrick Lamar was tapped for the gig in New Orleans.

Since K. Dot was announced as the Halftime Show performer , several rappers have spoken out about not picking Weezy for the NOLA gig, especially given his ties to the city. Now, he is sharing his own thoughts. The New Orleans-born rapper shared a video on Instagram on Friday (September 13) admitting the snub "broke" him and that it "hurt a lot" to not be chosen to represent his hometown in the halftime show next year.

"First of all, I want to say forgive me for the delay. I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking," he said, also thanking everyone who had reached out and shown their support over the past several days. "Imma say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, all love and support out there. Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back."

The disappointed rapper said he blamed himself for not being prepared for a "letdown" prior to the announcement.

"That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I'm talking about. It hurt a whole lot," he said. "I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. And for automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that. But I thought that was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city, so it hurt. It hurt a whole lot."

Weezy said he felt like he let his fans down by not being chosen for the opportunity to rep his city but has been focusing on the love and support he has seen from friends and family, peers and fans to help him through the disappointment.

"It made me feel like s--- not getting this opportunity, and when I felt like s---, you guys reminded me that I ain't s--- without y'all, and that's an amazing reality," he said. "Like I said, it broke me and I'm just trying to put me back together, but my god, have you all helped me ... I feet like I let all of y'all down by not getting that opportunity, but I'm working on me and I'm working. So thank you."
