André 3000 compared himself to Lil B while discussing his first foray into jazz music.

During an interview GRAMMY.com published on Wednesday, September 25, 3 Stacks was asked if there were any peers he leaned on during the making of his debut jazz album New Blue Sun . The OutKast rapper named bands like Sun Ra and the Art Ensemble of Chicago . However, he stunned some fans when he referred to himself as "the Lil B of this type of music."

"A lot of what he's doing is made up or improv or really reactionary," André said. "It's not this studied, perfect thing."

"Because I came up in the ‘90s, we came up with Nas and Wu-Tang and some of the [people] considered the best rappers around," he continued. "It was about clarity. It was more of a studied kind of thing. A person like Lil B is not studied at all. But the way the kids respond to him, it's because of that. It's kind of like a punk way of rapping, and I like it. [And what I’m doing is] almost like punk jazz or punk spiritual jazz. It's pure feeling."

Lil B offered his thoughts about the comparison on social media. After he saw the interview, the Based God took to his X account to praise the veteran rapper. "Shouts out Andre 3000," he wrote .

André 3000 released his first solo album last year. It contains nine instrumental tracks without lyrics or features. Since the album dropped, the Atlanta native has been performing his experimental music around the world. During his recent tour stop in Dallas, 3 Stacks brought out Erykah Badu to lay down some of her beautiful vocals alongside the sounds of his flute. It was the first time both artists, who share a son, have appeared on stage together in years.
