A Texas judge placed a mother in handcuffs after she wore an inappropriate outfit and was seen using her cellphone to take a photograph in the courtroom earlier this year, the Daily Mail reports.

District Court Judge Stephanie Boyd was seen reprimanding the woman for her wearing shorts and breaking courtroom rules by using the cell phone while her son appeared to be the defendant in the court case Boyd was presiding over in a TikTok post re-shared earlier this month.

"First of all, why are you in this court in shorts?" Judge Boyd asked.

'I'm sorry, I just …I don't know, I've never really been in court," the woman replied.

"Alright, second of all, turn your phone over to the deputy. Do not close it," Boyd quickly replied before ordering the deputy to "delete whatever photos she took, please."

The woman told Boyd she was taking a photo of her son to let her daughter know he was OK, at which point the judge appeared to decide on placing her in handcuffs.

"Alright, so Deputy Lord, if you put her in cuffs, since you want to be next to her son, put her in the box,' the judge orders as the officers places her in plastic hand ties," Boyd said.

    "I apologize, ma'am, I didn't know," the woman said.

"Oh I appreciate your apology," Boyd responded.

Several clips from Boyd's cases have been shared on TikTok numerous times and the video of the interaction with the mother has been viewed more than 18 million times.
