Rising Country Artist Reacts To Kelly Clarkson's Cover Of 'Breakup' Anthem

Avery Anna shared a video of her reaction when Kelly Clarkson covered one of her songs on The Kelly Clarkson Show .

Anna, an Arizona-born country artist and part of the CMT Next Women of Country Class of 2023, watched Clarkson cover “Breakup Over Breakfast,” which Anna wrote with songwriters Andy Sheridan , Ben Williams and David Fanning . Anna, 20, said she “could watch this a million times,” she wrote in her caption on Instagram .

“Let’s turn it all the way up,” Anna said in the video as she smiled at the TV screen. “(Clarkson) sings it way better than whoever sings that!”

“Breakup Over Breakfast” is the title track of Anna’s 17-track debut album that released on July. Anna said when she announced the record that “these songs mean the world to me. It’s a little bit of rock, country, acoustic, pop, and everything personal. You have given me the safe space to write honestly and from the heart, thank you for always supporting me and sharing your stories and experiences with me through the music.

“I really wanted to give you guys an album that you can confide in,” she continued. “I carefully chose the songs and track listing, and creating it was an adrenaline rush / a relief all at the same time. It seems like yesterday I moved to Nashville and started recording for the first time, and now I get to release an entire project of songs. What is life right now.”

Anna’s “Breakup Over Breakfast” is the latest song by a country artist Clarkson has covered on her show. The original American Idol champ has also covered songs by Lainey Wilson , Jelly Roll , Miranda Lambert , Carrie Underwood , Shania Twain , The Judds , Josh Turner , Keith Urban and many others.
