    Jackson County Fire District 5 could run out of money by November

    These issues should have been addressed before the decision was made to tear down the unburnt Phoenix dept., to spend $200M on an oversized building. The area would be better off by a fully paid staff older building, than have an expensive no staff building? City leaders should think before acting, money would not be wasted. If District 5 cannot pay a full staff, is there no staff left for the Phoenix ? So $200M was wasted, it could have been used for more staff and to build affordable housing in Phoenix. Families have lost enough do not continue to take their right to return to their hometown any longer. They deserve more than to drive through town and see a huge $200M empty building, especially when they know that the old builing did not burn, yet it was torn down. If Phoenix had of used half of that money to build back affordable housing consumed by the fire, then everyone that lived in Phoenix at the time of the fire would be able to return home and rebuild their community.
