Mark Kiszla: Colo-RAD-oh! Soccer stars Swanson, Horan and Smith give America its first big kick of Summer Olympics
NICE, France – Let the domination of Colorado women at the Olympic Games begin. Mallory Swanson, Lindsey Horan and Sophia Smith saw no need to wait for the torch to be lit at the Opening Ceremony to start kicking butt and taking names on the soccer pitch. Three stars born and raised in our little corner of the world shook Zambia with some Rocky Mountain thunder in a rousing 3-0...
Colorado company uses plastic from Dillon Marina and turns it into roads
While a pile of polyethylene plastic wrap piled up in a storage shed for the Dillon Marina (from boats wrapped up in the off-season) Craig Simson, the "Mayor" of the Dillon Marina started looking for a place to put it. Previously the supplier would take the plastic back and recycle it, but it became too costly, and the supplier simply stopped offering the service. "We were on a mission to find someone to process this kind of plastic," Simson said. "Between the two marinas, (Dillon and Frisco) the rough math is we produce about 480,000 square feet of plastic annually. That didn't...
Mixed reactions to plan for Colorado's Sweetwater Lake
As a public comment period draws to a close regarding a plan for a scenic lake in western Colorado, land managers continue to face strong opposition. That opposition — largely from people living nearby — quickly followed Gov. Jared Polis announcing Sweetwater Lake as Colorado's next state park in 2021. The announcement came after the lake and land long held in private hands entered the U.S. Forest Service's trust thanks to a grassroots fundraising effort and federal money ensuring a future of preservation.

Levi Wallace in position to join fellow former Alabama star Pat Surtain as a Broncos starting cornerback
ENGLEWOOD – An all-Alabama cornerback duo could be in order for the Broncos. One starter, of course, will be Pat Surtain II, a Pro Bowl selection the past two seasons who joined the NFL in 2021 out of Alabama. The other could end up being Levi Wallace, who entered the NFL in 2018 after playing for the Crimson Tide and signed with Denver last spring as a free agent.
Deion Sanders says Colorado running back Charlie Offerdahl is ‘the starter at this point’
Former walk-on running back Charlie Offerdahl owns one of the more inspiring stories on Colorado football’s roster, and it’s only getting better. An in-state product from Littleton, Offerdahl spent his first three college seasons as a walk-on before being gifted a scholarship from head coach Deion Sanders in April. The shifty Dakota Ridge High School graduate is now the running back to beat for Colorado’s starting job entering fall camp, according to Coach Prime. During the Big 12 media days earlier this month, Sanders shared the following about where Offerdahl stands (h/t Scott Procter of The Coloradoan): “Just because Charlie Offerdahl had the...

Two Broncos stars address their contract situations
While dead money somewhat overshadows the contracts still on the Broncos’ 2024 payroll, the team did just give an $18M-per-year deal to Quinn Meinerz. That gives Denver four eight-figure AAVs on its offensive front, with Mike McGlinchey, Garett Bolles and Ben Powers tied to lucrative deals. McGlinchey and Powers,...
REcolorado's messy sale eroded trust between Denver real estate agents and leaders
When MRI Software officials first learned REcolorado was going to be sold, they knew they had to act fast before the sale was finalized. The Ohio-based real estate technology company announced this week it was interested in buying REcolorado, the state’s largest multiple listing service (MLS) where most homes on sale in Colorado are put on the market to be distributed to websites such as Zillow and Redfin.
