Illinois is another failing Democratic state model

True blue Democratic states are supposedly the model Democrats want to impose on the country, but they are horribly mismanaged even at the state level.

Much is written of California and New York’s pathetic declines , overseen by governors with eyes on national politics and single-party legislatures that prefer cultural battles over keeping residents safe. Illinois the third-most populated Democratic state (Pennsylvania’s state House is almost perfectly split, and Republicans actually control the state Senate) is another example of how Democratic control ruins once-prestigious states.

According to Internal Revenue Service data released this week, Illinois from 2021 to 2022 lost nearly $10 billion in revenue as more than 87,000 people moved out of the state. That marks six years of population and income loss, with that six-year total loss being $47.5 billion. Data from the United States Census Bureau still shows Illinois losing population through last year, with the state ranking fourth in rate of population decline.

Overseeing the current decline is Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-IL), who has been trying to claw his way out of the shadow of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) as the Democratic Party’s culture warrior governor for a future presidential run. Pritzker has spent his tenure hiking taxes, inviting illegal immigrants to the state (and then complaining when Texas sends them), and legalizing abortion up to birth. Under Pritzker, Illinois also became the first state to eliminate cash bail, even as crime plagues the state’s prized city of Chicago.

Illinois has been bleeding both residents and businesses because it is too expensive, and the Democrats in charge have been making residents less safe. Similar to California and New York, putting Democrats in charge of a sizable population has helped drive Illinois into the dirt. While GOP-run states such as Texas and Florida prosper, California, New York, and Illinois continue to show that Democratic control is only good for running people out of the state and to more reasonably taxed and well-governed states that are blossoming across the country.
