One fortunate Illinois native is the state's newest millionaire after winning a massive lottery jackpot during last Friday's (July 26) drawing. According to an Illinois Lottery press release, the unnamed individual purchased a winning Mega Millions ticket at the Casey’s gas station located at 5965 Columbia Parkway in Rockford, and the rest was history!

The winner matched all five numbers as part of last week's drawing, and is officially $1 million richer. The mysterious winner is not the only one to benefit from the lottery jackpot as the Casey's that sold the ticket will also get a $10,000 bonus!

The lucky Illinois native was not the only lottery player to win big during the latest Mega Millions drawing. Individuals from New Jersey and California each won $1 million prizes! All winners have exactly one year from the day of the drawing to claim their prize . If the Illinois winner does not claim their $1 million prize by July 26, 2025, the money will be given to the state's Common School Fund to help purchase supplies for public schools.

Information regarding the identity of the winner or what they plan to do with the money has yet to be revealed as the country awaits the next Mega Millions drawing, slated for Tuesday (July 30) at 10:00 p.m. CT.
