(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Fair is now less than three weeks from starting and the Grandstand is preparing to host harness racing to kick off County Fairs & Horse Racing Day on Thursday, August 8th. Recognized as one of the fastest dirt tracks in the world, the one mile track will feature strictly Illinois Department of Agriculture sponsored races on the opening day with every horse that takes the track to be either Illinois conceived or foaled. The Illinois State Fair runs August 8th thru August 18th on the fairgrounds in Springfield.
