City Council Report: New south side distribution center approved against community opposition
At Tuesday’s City Council, Springfield alderpeople voted to approve zoning variances on a proposed warehouse project in the south of Ward 1. Located on Palm Road at the foot of the Chatham/I-55 interchange, the new warehouse is anticipated to bring in “hundreds” of jobs to the Springfield area. Variances including relaxing building height restrictions as well as allowing for taller, barbed fences in accordance with national security requests, as the site is believed to be intended for storage and distribution of food products.

Galesburg girl wins Li’l Miss Illinois pageant
There she is, Li’l Miss Illinois. That person is Kynleigh Fox of Galesburg, who was recently named Li’l Miss Illinois 2024 through the Miss Illinois Youth Program. Fox, daughter of Stacy Dunham, took part in the pageant recently as Li’l Miss Knox County. Fox recently turned 9 years old and will be a fourth grader at Galesburg Christian School. Among the activities she was required to take part included a talent – she danced – and an interview. Fox aced it as she was named Overall Top Interview.
