Liam Payne shared a sweet video of his son, Bear Grey Payne, on his 31st birthday, which has resurfaced on social media following his death.

While celebrating his 31st birthday on August 29, Liam shared a final message about Bear, 7, via Snapchat. “I didn’t get any dad socks yet,” the former One Direction star said in the video, which has since circulated on TikTok. “But I am going to speak to my son in a little bit, which I’m really excited about. Bless him.”

Liam shared that Bear was “so big now.,” adding, “He’s a big boy, and he looks like a mini-me, as if we need anymore me in the world.”

“Bear is a mini me,” Liam wrote on top of the video.

The “Midnight Memories” singer shared his only child with ex Cheryl Cole, whom he dated from 2016 until 2018.

“Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make,” he wrote via X in July 2018. “We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”

While Cheryl, 41, and Liam opted to keep Bear out of the spotlight, they have made comments about their son and journey as coparents in interviews. “[Liam is] much softer than me. But it is what it is, and I’m OK about it,” she told The Telegraph in 2019 while reflecting on their dynamic as coparents. “When you have a baby, you are not consumed with just thinking about yourself. It’s your responsibility to keep things settled and happy, so you make the best of everything. And we have.”

In July 2023, Liam credited Bear and Cheryl for helping him when he took a hiatus from music. “More than anything, I want to say thank you to him and his mum for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well in that moment because I had to,” he said in a video posted via his YouTube channel. “There’s no point trying to be a dad when you’ve got nothing to teach and I don’t think up until this point I really had much to say to him other than just caring for him very deeply and loving him deeply, which is obviously the most important thing.”

The sweet video about Bear circulated online after Liam died following a fall from the third floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday, October 16, In Touch confirmed. A hotel employee called 911 to report Liam’s erratic behavior, though he was already dead by the time authorities arrived at the scene.

“There was no possibility of resuscitating him,” the authorities said. “He had extremely severe injuries that were incompatible with life due to the fall.”

According to an audio recording of the 911 call obtained via local media by Telemundo, Liam allegedly had “drugs and alcohol” in his system before his death. The hotel staff member said he “overindulged” in the substances, adding, “When he is conscious he breaks, he is breaking the whole room. Well, we need you to send someone, please.”

The employee said that they needed the police to arrive at the hotel “urgently” because they feared the guest – who they did not identify as Liam – was at risk.“The guest is in a room that has a balcony and, well, we are a little afraid that he might do something life-threatening,” the caller said.
