Italian restaurants never disappoint me ESPECIALLY when they are local and everything is fresh and homemade. When it comes to picking out quality Italian restaurants for a special occasion I have serval rules:

    1. If the menu is too long, RUN. Don't walk. A long list of food choices most likely means the food is not made fresh. So if it's more than front and back of a page, I don't want it.
    2. Atmosphere is important for me. Part of enjoying a meal for a special occasion is enjoying the whole experience. I value cleanliness, uniqueness, and comfort to be able to enjoy a meal to the fullest.
    3. Is there dessert? I love a quality sweet treat every now and then and if a restaurant has a dessert menu with delicious homemade treats made with love- BONUS points.

One restaurant that fulfilled all of my requirements for a special birthday dinner was The Cobblestone Restaurant in Geneva, NY.

This restaurant seemed to be located in the middle of nowhere but I mean come on, it's Geneva, NY. I'd be silly to expect "big city big lights."

    Our Dinner Choices:

    Appetizer:

    • Beef Empanadas: Deep fried empanadas with delicious filling. The filling consisted of beef, cheese, and jalapeños. Along with the empanadas, the appetizer came with a chipotle mayo and crispy onion rings.

    Main Course:

    • Veal Cobblestone: The Veal Cobblestone was one of the "Classic Dishes" that the restaurant offered. In a flavorful white wine and butter sauce, perfectly tender pieces of veal were among other incredible additions which included asparagus, prosciutto, dices tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, garlic, and basil. The dish came with either pasta or risotto. My choice was risotto and it was perfect taste and consistency with peas.

    • 12oz Pork Chop: This 12oz pork chop was on the bone and cooked to perfection. It was served with a side of French fries and seasonal vegetables.

    Dessert:

    • Classic Tiramisu:Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts because it's not too heavy and has hints of espresso that I absolutely love. The Classic Tiramisu at the Cobblestone Restaurant in Geneva was layers of light sponge cake layered with delicious mascarpone cream with hints of espresso. This dessert had a perfectly balanced flavor that I would order again in a heartbeat!

    • Coppa Profiterole: If you ever had eclairs and are a fan, you would LOVE this dessert. Coppa Profiteroles are profiteroles in a cup on top of delicious cream.

Both of these desserts are classic European desserts and are not overly sweet yet are decadent and filled with flavor. This restaurant is great if you are a fan of coffee and quality dessert because they offered espresso, among other coffee options, as well as several classic desserts.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Cobblestone Restaurant in Geneva because it offers quality food and a very pleasant atmosphere. It's a great choice for any occasion especially for those being surrounded by the colors of nature!
