Firefighters contain another fire about six miles west of the Clarkston Height
CLARKSTON - Fire crews were dispatched just before 2 PM Saturday to Peola Road for a wildland fire. When crews arrived they found fire burning in stuble and standing wheat. Firefighters from Asotin County Fire District #1, City of Clarkston Fire, City of Asotin Fire, and Washington Department of Natural Resources all responded. Firefighters were able to get around the perimeter of the fire rapidly and then spent about 2 hours mopping up hot spots.

Firefighters battle to protect communities as Washington wildfires spread
WASHINGTON — Several large wildfires burning in Washington are growing. At least one wildfire is nearing structures and highway closures are also in effect. The Pioneer Fire on the north shore of Lake Chelan has been burning since June 8th. As of Sunday, July 28, it has grown to 33,277 acres. It has grown by more than 1,300 acres within the last week. The human-caused fire is 10% contained.
Oregon Forecast: Rain Expected in NW Oregon and SW Washington on Monday
Portland, OR – Rainfall is expected to hit Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington early next week, with potential showers on Monday and Tuesday. The US National Weather Service in Portland reports the likelihood of a tenth to a quarter inch of rain from 5 a.m. Monday through 5 a.m. Tuesday.
