    Two hurt in shooting in Independence

    INDEPENDENCE, Kan. (KSNW) — Police in Independence say two people were shot Monday evening.

    It happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 400 block of W. Locust St. The Independence Police Department says that when officers arrived, they found a shooting scene but no victims.

    Coffeyville firefighters seek help restoring classic fire engine

    Two victims soon showed up at local hospitals separately by private vehicles. Police say both people were involved in the shooting. Their condition is unknown.

    The IPD says they are still investigating what happened, but there is no threat to the community. Coffeyville Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

    Police ask anyone who may have information about the shooting or property owners in the area who may have surveillance cameras to contact investigators at 620-332-1700 .
