KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It’s the most wonderful time of the year here in Kansas City!
Not only are Fourth of July celebrations filling up community calendars and selling out fireworks tents, but parts of the metro are preparing for something even more exciting and unexpected… Christmas.
Fans react to upcoming Chiefs Hallmark movie being filmed in Kansas City area As many are already aware, Kansas City was chosen as the setting for a new and upcoming Hallmark film, “ Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story ,” a romance that centers around a woman, played by “Two Scoops of Italy” and “The Santa Summit” Actress Hunter King, who wants her family to win a “Fan of the Year” contest.
It is later revealed that the director of fan engagement, Tyler Hynes of “Shifting Gears” and “Three Wise Men and a Baby,” is the person who determines the contest winner.
As the movie continues and King and Hynes spend more time together, things take an odd turn when a lucky Chiefs hat, owned by King’s grandfather, played by “Young Sheldon” and “Better Call Saul” Actor Ed Begley Jr., randomly disappears.
As for the rest of the plot, you’ll just have to wait until the holidays.
Historic Independence mansion to make appearance in movie Although these are the only details released about the movie’s storyline, it was announced Monday that the primary filming location is in Independence Square — a quaint downtown in Independence, Mo. lined with brick buildings, small businesses, and a large town hall.
According to the Independence City Council, filming starts next week for the holiday romance which perfectly coincides with the city’s “Christmas in July” celebration.
Kansas Citians will be able to walk through the town square and see festive lights strung across businesses, making it the perfect winter escape in the thick of a Midwestern summer.
