    UPDATE: Pedestrian killed, identified in U.S. 40 Highway crash

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One woman is dead after being hit by a truck early Saturday morning in Independence, Mo., the Independence Police Department said.

    According to IPD, at about 2 a.m. Saturday, the driver of a 2003 Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on U.S. 40 Highway, just east of Crysler Avenue, when they struck 40-year-old Janeicka Hays of Kansas City, Mo. in the road.

    One dead after crashing into building overnight in Independence

    IPD said the Hays died on the scene.

    The crash is currently under investigation, however, police said the driver of the truck stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. As well as this, a witness told officers that the Hays had been walking in the lane of traffic when she was hit.
