Four area graduates awarded Murphy scholarship
Four area high school students each recently the John J. Murphy Family Scholarship managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation. Megan Fisher and Sughosh Kondur of Allegany-Limestone, Madison Jobe of Portville and Riti Anumalasetty of Olean were each awarded the John J. Murphy Family Scholarship. Each student received a $10,000 scholarship, $2,500 per year for up to four years.
Carroll Project Illustrates State’s Building Problem
It doesn’t appear that anyone wants a five-unit apartment complex in Frewsburg. A recent special Carroll Town Board meeting lasting more than two hours included not one comment in favor of a project proposed by Diamond Builders Construction at 82 Falconer St., Frewsburg. But, the project as proposed meets the town of Carroll’s building and zoning codes – so there needs to be a good reason to deny it or the town could find itself in court.

A historic run for Wellsville 10u Little League team results in District 2 title; story and photos
On June 23 at 2 p.m., the first game of the 10u Little League All-Star bracket took place as LeRoy downed Wellsville, 7-4. That dropped the Wellsville team into the consolation bracket and the team would not only have to fight all the way back, but even if they were to win, they would go against the champions from the Cattaraugus County bracket with a loss.
