An oil spill in a New York Creek killed a family of beavers and ended with 2 brothers facing charges. A call came into the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Spill Hotline about crude oil being spilled into Foster Creek, a waterway that flows into the Allegheny River, and it's impact on the beavers.
Tenth annual Alfred State Golf Tournament a success
The winning team of Raymie Auman, Jordan Wonderling, Nick Biedakiewicz, and Brett Migliore shot a 59 to win the Alfred State Drive for the Development Fund Golf Tournament. Thirty-four teams enjoyed gorgeous weather at the 10th annual Pioneers Drive for the Development Fund golf tournament at the Wellsville Country Club. The event presented by Mach Architecture raised more than $29,000 in cash and gifts in kind for Alfred State.
Hornell Steamers Beat Genesee Rapids Tuesday Night
For the second straight day, Hornell battled in a pitchers duel. Tuesday, the Steamers came out on top with a 2-1 victory over the Genesee Rapids. The game was scoreless until the 4th when Jackson Legg (LSU Eunice) doubled and Brody Langlotz (Gulf Coast CC) reached on an error. North Hornell Police Dept: Grants Worth Tens Of Thousands of $$$
In April of 2024 the Village of North Hornell Police Department recently secured nearly $60K grant from the New York State Law Enforcement Technology Grant. A Wellsville man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a Woodhull man over the weekend. Bradly J. Maddalena, 24, of County Road 18 in Wellsville was arrested Saturday, according to Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard, and charged with murdering Wayne E. Mosher, 57, of County Route 101 in Woodhull.
