Downtown Hornell will be the place for live music starting this week with the first "Thursdays at the Square" in the city's newest park. Hornell Partners for Growth is behind the nine free concerts at Union Square Park. The shows will feature performances by local and regional artists at the nearly one-acre venue at the corner of Seneca and Genesee streets.

Five Hornell Police Officers Awarded For Their Life Saving Efforts
The Board of Public Safety awarded five officers the Hornell Police Department’s “Lifesaving Award” at their June meeting. Chief Ted Murray recognized Captain Michael Sexsmith, Sergeant Todd Giglio, Patrolman Ian Hamilton, Patrolman JR Emo, and Patrolman Trevor Stiles for their heroic efforts during an incident in March of this year.

North Hornell Police Department receives three major grant awards
New funding for technology, School Resource Officer, and new patrol car. In April of 2024 the Village of North Hornell Police Department recently secured nearly $60K grant from the New York State Law Enforcement Technology Grant. This money will go towards paying off equipment lease contracts, upgrading outdated computers and radio equipment along with purchasing of new equipment to better secure and protect the officers and the residents within the community of North Hornell.

Galeton to celebrate 39th Red Suspender weekend
Galeton’s 39th annual Red Suspender weekend will be held on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6 with events taking place all over town. On Friday night, Centertown Park will host live music and on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. the day’s events will begin with a 5K Run and 2K walk at St. Bibliana’s Parish Center. Gould sworn in as 2024-2025 Bath Rotary Club President
The Bath Rotary Club held its Annual Changeover Dinner on June 18 at the Charles E. Westcott Post 173 American Legion at which time the new officers were installed, and several club members were honored. The invocation was given by John Gould; next the Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Brandi Graham. Finally, Cheryl Muller and Nancy Latour led the attendees in the singing of “God Bless America”.

The following individuals are scheduled to appear in Elkland District Court, judge James Edgcomb presiding. Terry Scott Aldrich 62, of Elkland was charged by Elkland Borough Police with deceptive or fraudulent business practices, home improvement consumer protection act violation, theft by unlawful taking and theft by unlawful taking or disposition, theft by deception-false impression. Aldrich allegedly agreed to do construction work for the victim, was paid a portion of the money agreed upon, started the project and never finished.

This storytelling presentation is filled with traditional Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) legends that have been told for hundreds of years. These stories teach about the beliefs, customs and history of the Haudenosaunee people. The Storyteller will bring the stories to life through vivid descriptions, his rhythmic voice and a very active stage presence.
