Family Safe, Home Damaged After Blaze on Silver Cloud Lane in Knoxville
A house fire that took place Sunday evening in Knoxville has left a residence with severe damage, but thankfully, no injuries were reported. The Knoxville Fire Department responded to a distress call at around 6:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Silver Cloud Lane. WVLT reported that a woman alerted the authorities after finding her home filled with smoke and noting that her husband had re-entered the property.

The Wellsboro and Cowanesque Valley football teams will be competing this Saturday, July 20 in Sayre in the second year of the Battle of the Bowl seven-on-seven tournament. Andover First Baptist donates to Jones Memorial
Recently, the Dr. F Clifton Miller Birthing Center at Jones Memorial Hospital received a large donation from the Andover First Baptist Church in Andover, NY. Church members competed in teams, girls vs. boys, to collect change from May 12, 2024 through June 16, for this worthwhile initiative. In just over a month, the boys raised $603.45, “beating” the girl at $585.65, thanks to a last minute donation. The total donated to the birthing center was $1,189.10. These funds will be used to supply the sleep sacks that are given out to every family at the birthing center. Each sleep sack costs $8 so this donation will fund 148 blankets, almost a six-month supply.
Suzette Renee Carlin, 62, Wellsville
Suzette Renee Carlin, 62, of Donovan Road, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Hart Comfort House peacefully, with her family by her side. She was born March 11, 1962, in Miami, FL, the daughter of the late Donald and Patricia (Clark) Davis. On October 11, 1997, in Wellsville, she married Gregory C. Carlin, who survives.

Harrison Valley, Pa. — Betty M. Metcalf, 92, of Harrison Valley, Pa. died Monday, July 8, 2024 in her home. Born March 17, 1932 in Harrison Township, she was the daughter of Ivan L. and Myra I. Outman Kibbe. On March 25, 1950 in Harrison Valley, she married Fred H. Metcalf, who predeceased her on Aug. 10, 2007.
Vietnam veteran, dog killed in fire at Genesee Township house
GENESEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) - Firefighters found a Vietnam War veteran and his dog dead after their house caught fire in Genesee Township early Thursday. Genesee Township Fire Chief Don Fremd said the fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Clovis Avenue a short distance east of Saginaw Street in the Beecher area.
Upcoming Bridge Closing – Arkport/Hornellsville
We have been notified that the bridge on Hurlbut Street over Marsh Ditch, between SR 36 and Davenport Street in the Village of Arkport and Town of Hornellsville, will be closed to all through traffic starting July 22nd through July 25th. The bridge will undergo repairs to the driving surface and then repaved.

A Cuba man was arrested in Olean on drug charges Tuesday evening. According to Olean police, 43-year-old Christopher E Herron was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance for allegedly possessing cocaine, as well as misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, along with a number of motor vehicle charges.
