NASHUA – The City of Nashua is set to receive $7.7 million through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Lead Hazard Reduction Grant Program. This funding will be used to continue efforts to increase the number of lead-safe housing units in Nashua, addressing lead-based paint and other hazards in more than 200 housing units, providing safer homes for low-income families with children.

The City of Nashua will collaborate with medical professionals, social service providers, and local organizations to identify and remediate dangerous lead hazards in older housing units. This effort is part of a broader initiative to ensure that families in Nashua, especially those with young children, can live in safe, healthy environments.

“This $7.7 million award is a tremendous investment in the health and safety of Nashua’s most vulnerable residents,” said Matt Sullivan, Director of Community Development for the City of Nashua. “By addressing lead hazards in these homes, we are taking a crucial step toward reducing the risk of lead poisoning and ensuring that children grow up in a safe environment.”

The Lead Hazard Reduction Grant Program is designed to help communities mitigate lead-based paint risks in older housing stock, which remains a significant concern in many areas. The funding will be used to identify homes with lead hazards, remediate those hazards, and provide families with the resources they need to maintain a safe living space.

For more information about this program and how it will impact Nashua residents, contact Katerina Liti, Lead Program Coordinator, at LitiK@nashuanh.gov .
