    Daily Devotional: Obedience thoughts

    By Rev. Dr. Michael Sanders,

"Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God." — Hebrews 13:15-16 NRSVUE

I know that if I take the time each morning to pray and read my Bible, my day is uplifted and I serve God better.

I know that the most important things going for us in the Kingdom are not brilliance or sterling acts of sacrifice. Nor some great sacrifice that “proves” how dedicated we are.

The most important things for us in the Kingdom are the simple acts of faithfulness to each day’s assignments.

Of prayer, and time with God.

    Of kindness.

Of generosity with what little we have.

I suspect one of the great tools of the Tempter is not to make us hate God or even get angry with God, rather, to forget God in the small details of each day.

Look into the quiet corners of this day for God is there waiting.

Prayer: Lord, help me not to neglect the small things — they are not so small after all.

Avocados for Breakfast, Life Lessons from our 4-Legged Friends, and A Feast of Wild Blackberries are books of devotions written by Rev. Dr. Michael Sanders. They can be purchased at Ken’s Village Market in Indian River and Brewed Awakenings in Saline.
