From Hell to Paradise: American Legion Riders support PTSD survivors
SAULT STE. MARIE — Hundreds of motorcycles will join together on July 26 as they make their way across Michigan to bring awareness to post-traumatic stress disorder. The American Legion Riders post in Sault Ste. Marie is hosting the first annual ride from Hell in the Lower Peninsula to Paradise in the Upper Peninsula.

Faster Horses, a three-day country music and camping festival, has become one of Michigan's signature summer events since its debut in 2013. This year's headliners are Jelly Roll (Friday), Lainey Wilson (Saturday) and Hardy (Sunday). University of Michigan Health and Michigan State University Health Care plan to expand neurological care in the Lansing area and mid-Michigan through a new joint venture. The two formed the Neuro Care Network to partner on inpatient and outpatient care for patients with neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s and dementia or who have suffered a stroke. The partnership includes inpatient and outpatient neurology, neurosurgery, electrodiagnostic and infusion services.

Harbor Springs passed a new zoning code. Residents are working on a referendum to pause it
HARBOR SPRINGS — More than two years ago, the Harbor Springs planning commission started to take a look at the city's zoning code and work on updates. The commission went through the zoning code and made a recommendation to the city council, including updates that reduced the number of zoning districts from 17 to nine, allows the building of accessory dwelling units and more. The council was supposed to vote on the code in March, but postponed the vote after community members asked for a public hearing scheduled for the summer so more property owners could talk about the zoning. The council held a public hearing on May 6, and adopted the ordinance on May 20.
Art in the Park returns to Petoskey on July 20
PETOSKEY — Pennsylvania Park will be packed with ceramics, paintings, jewelry and more on Saturday as Art in the Park returns for the 38th year. The juried, fine arts fair draws in approximately 120 artists from around the country to sell their work. The list of mediums represented this year includes fiber, graphic, jewelry, glass, mixed media, painting and pottery.
GFL driver dies from crash injuries in Otsego Co.
OTSEGO COUNTY — Troopers said a GFL garbage truck was traveling west on Schuss Lane near Conifer Trail in Bagley Township when it went off the road and hit a tree. When troopers arrived on scene, they found a 43-year-old man from Kalkaska unresponsive. Troopers administered CPR until EMS arrived on scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries. Michigan State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
