INDIANA COUNTY SHINES FOR PENNSYLVANIA IN 12U EAST REGIONAL
What an opener for the Pennsylvania entry in the Little League 12U Eastern Regional Junior Softball Tournament in Orange, Connecticut. The Indiana Junior League All-Stars belted 11 hits and routed Delaware, 9-0. Kaitlyn Houser hit a two-run home run. Gracie Reed and Tenley Anderson each had a double. Rylee Mahaffey and Claire Brewer combined for the shutout. Mahaffey struck out 8 and gave up just one hit in her three innings and brewer finished up with four K’s and also gave up just one hit. Indiana was clean in the field too, with no errors.
SECOND STRUCTURE FIRE, AUTOMATIC ALARMS REPORTED WEDNESDAY
Along with last night’s fire in Homer City, there were just a few other calls for first responders over the last 24 hours in Indiana County. The only other major call was another reported structure fire along Mahoning Road in Cherry Tree Borough. Cherry Tree, Commodore, and Hope Fire Departments were dispatched at 10:55 PM.
Update: The severe thunderstorm warning is likely to expire at 8:45 p.m.
The warning was for Indiana and Westmoreland counties. "The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, gusty winds are still possible with this thunderstorm," says the National Weather Service.
White Township man waives strangulation charge to Armstrong County court
KITTANNING — Strangulation and other charges against an Indiana County resident have been waived to court. On Wednesday, James William Taylor’s right to a preliminary hearing was waived, a move which prompted Kittanning Magisterial District Judge Kenneth Bussard to bind their case over to the Armstrong County Court of Common Pleas.

HOMER CITY POST 493 PLACES THREE ON ALL-SECTION SENIOR LEGION TEAM
The District 31 Senior Legion All-Section Team was released yesterday, and several Indiana County stars made the team. Homer City Post 493 infielder Braden Dunn and outfielder Rocco Cosentino both made first team. Dunn batted .407 and had an OPS of .985, with 22 Hits, 16 RBIs, and 17 runs. Cosentino batted .378 with an OPS of 1.138, 14 hits, 3 doubles, 4 triples, 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
MOTIONS HEARING SET FOR SUSPECT IN GAREFFA KILLING
A motions hearing is set for today for one of the people accused in the death of Hayden Gareffa. Court Documents show that the hearing for 20-year-old Summer Settlemeyer will be held today in front of Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco. The hearing is dealing with motions concerning Settlemeyer’s mental health. She was one of seven adults and one juvenile that were charged with coercing Gareffa to leave his grandmother’s home and stabbed him multiple times before leaving him for dead in a field of tall grass off Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township in 2022. Settlemeyer is charged with criminal homicide, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, kidnapping to inflict injury or terror, aggravated assault, conspiracy to those four charges along with statutory sexual assault.
