Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Shapiro's Delicatessen, a gem that I stumbled upon quite unexpectedly in Indianapolis. As a lover of smoked beef, I was thrilled to discover that this place could very well be described as a paradise for enthusiasts like myself. The deli sandwiches, especially the corned beef, pastrami, and turkey, are generously piled high, evoking a delightful sense of nostalgia with every bite. The potato latkes, dense and crisp, paired perfectly with applesauce, enhancing the old-school vibe of the deli.

The atmosphere at Shapiro's is reminiscent of the classic delis that many of us might remember from childhood visits with grandparents. It's not just about the food; it's about the experience. The staff's friendliness adds to the welcoming feel, making first-time visitors like myself feel right at home. The side dishes, particularly the green beans, deviled eggs, and a surprisingly generous serving of asparagus, were all standout additions to our meal. And you can't leave without trying a dessert – the cheesecake here might just make you skip a trip to any other cheesecake specialty spots.

Shapiro's Delicatessen is more than just a place to eat; it's a place to relive delicious memories and create new ones. Whether it's your first visit or you're a returning patron, the combination of hearty meals, a warm atmosphere, and delightful treats makes it a must-visit spot in Indianapolis.

Been thinking about stopping there but since they have all but destroyed Meridian combined with the smaller sandwich at a higher price I haven’t been in a long time.
