Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Longfei Chinese Restaurant, and it was an experience worth sharing. The ambiance was intriguing with a mix of Chinese decor and unexpected Mexican tunes playing in the background. The menu was extensive, offering a delightful variety from both American Chinese to authentic Chinese dishes. I tried the Dandan noodles, which were uniquely soupy compared to the traditional dry version, and the salt and pepper spareribs, a tasty twist on the usual pork chop dish using black pepper instead of white. The eggplant with garlic sauce was another standout, cubed and lightly fried for a crispy exterior.
The Chengdu Style beef with tofu caught my attention with its perfect level of spiciness, balanced nicely when eaten with white rice. The Mongolian beef was slightly sweet, providing a nice contrast to the other flavors on the table. Although the pork buns had more bun than filling, they were still flavorful. Despite a few dishes not hitting the mark, like the bland Sliced Lamb with Vegetables in Spicy Szechuan Sauce, the overall meal was delightful. The staff was friendly and accommodating, adding to the positive experience. If you find yourself in town, Longfei is definitely worth a visit for a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine with a unique twist.
