Indiana Fever fall to Washington Mystics 89-84, Caitlin Clark has 29 points, 13 assists

The Indiana Fever (9-13) face off with the Washington Mystics (5-17) today at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for a rare noon start on a weekday.
Caitlin Clark is coming off a triple-double in which she was the first WNBA rookie to accomplish that feat. She was also the first member of the Fever to record a triple-double.

The Fever nearly came back in this one but Washington held on at the very end. Caitlin Clark put up 29 points, 13 assists, five rebounds and five steals.
Indiana shot 53% from the floor and committed 21 turnovers.
Caitlin Clark made two free throws to make it a one-possession game. Ariel Atkins made a basket on the other end, but Clark made two more free throws to make it 87-84 with 45 seconds left.
Down 21 to start the fourth quarter, the Fever cut the lead to five at 1:41 with a free throw by Kelsey Mitchell. Indiana went on a 12-0 run. Caitlin Clark has 25 points and 13 assists. She has hit five 3s.
Caitlin Clark made two free throws to cut Washington's lead to 10. Aliyah Boston picked up her fourth foul at 8:42. She remained in the game. Clark nailed a 3 at 8:11.
At 5:49, Clark had a beautiful behind-the-back pass to NaLyssa Smith, who finished the sequence with a basket.
Aliyah Boston picked up her third foul at the 6:05 mark. Ariel Atkins hit a 3 at 5:56 to give the Mystics a 13-point lead. Aaliyah Edwards extended Washington's lead to 15 with a basket at 5:10.
Kelsey Mitchell leads the Fever with eight points.
Indiana now has nine turnovers. The Fever have also attempted 15 shots while the Mystics are at 27. Washington has outscored Indiana in the second quarter so far, 7-2.
