Caitlin Clark led the Indiana Fever in their 95-86 win ovver the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night. This victory moves them to fourth-place in the WNBA Western Conference with an improved record of 10-14.

The Fever led by 31 points with under two minutes remaining in the third quarter, but allowed the Mercury to go on a 31-4 run between  to cut the lead to just four. Indiana closed it out, but they ran into a little scare down the stretch.

WNBA fans were not happy with the run the Fever gave up. They bashed head coach Christie Sides for allowing Phoenix to allow this to happen, but they also singled out Erica Wheeler for being detrimental to the team in the second half.

Wheeler played just nine minutes during the game, but she had the worst plus/minus on the team with -16. She also recorded two points and one assist.

Fans took to social media to blast Wheeler for her negative impact on the game.

After playing in college for Rutgers, Wheeler went undrafted in 2013. She signed with the Fever in 2016 and was with the team until 2019. Wheeler then went overseas to play before coming back to the WNBA in 2021 with the Los Angeles Sparks. She joined the Fever once again in 2023.

In 23 games played this season, Wheeler is averaging 4.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
