(NEXSTAR) – A possible listeria contamination has prompted a flurry of recalls recently of vegetables, salsas and deli meat. Kroger shoppers in five states are once again being asked to check their fridges for products that may be contaminated.

The products under recall were purchased from Wiers Farm in Willard, Ohio, and sold at Kroger stores in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.

All the recalled products, from guacamole to chopped herbs and diced vegetables, were “packaged in clear-plastic grab-n-go containers,” according to an FDA recall notice. They’re being recalled over fears they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, commonly known as listeria.

Listeria infections typically cause fever, muscle aches and tiredness and may cause stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions. Symptoms can occur quickly or to up to 10 weeks after eating contaminated food.

While some people can recover on their own, those with weakened immune systems can suffer serious illness or death. For pregnant people, listeria can increase the risk of miscarriages.

Anyone who purchased one of the below products should discard it immediately.

The Kroger recall, announced Friday, is just one more in a series of warnings from federal health officials. Other recent produce recalls have affected vegetables sold at Aldi and Walmart across more than a dozen states. Boar’s Head, a popular deli meat distributor, also announced last week it would be recalling more than 200,000 pounds of its products.

Since late May, 34 people have been sickened in the listeria outbreak across 13 states, with all but one hospitalized. Two people died — in Illinois and New Jersey.

An estimated 1,600 people get listeria food poisoning each year and about 260 die, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
