    IMPD: 1 injured in shooting on near northeast side of Indianapolis

    INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that unfolded on the near northeast side of the Circle City Monday night.

    Per an IMPD media notification, officers initially responded to the 2000 block of Fernway Street on a report of a person shot. When police arrived at the scene, they located a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

    Public police reporting systems indicate officers first responded to the area around 8:54 p.m.

    Law enforcement reported that its officers escorted the victim from the scene to IU Methodist Hospital.

    IMPD initially reported that the victim was in critical condition. Police later told FOX59 and CBS4 crews at the scene of the shooting that the victim is in stable condition.
