An Indianapolis native will make her Broadway debut in the Pulitzer- and Tony-winning musical "Hamilton" this month.

After years of touring in the role, Morgan Anita Wood will debut as Elizabeth Schuyler, the wife of the titular founding father, Alexander Hamilton, July 16 at the Richard Rogers Theatre in New York City.

"After nearly six years on tour with 'Hamilton,' the opportunity to make my Broadway debut in this incredible show is truly a dream come true," Wood said in a statement, according to BroadwayWorld. "Playing the role of Eliza, I feel so lucky to share this story with audiences every night."

Wood debuted in "Hamilton" in 2019 during the show's limited run in Puerto Rico, raising relief funds amid the country's recovery from Hurricane Maria. She toured with the show through 2023, understudying all three Schuyler sisters and playing Eliza in the And Peggy Tour.

Growing up in Indianapolis, Wood performed at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, Civic Theatre and Footlite Musicals. She was among the stars assembled at Madam Walker Legacy Center for last year's performance and discussion of selections from "Five Points," a musical about the origins of American tap dance.

"I've always taken an interest in stories that triumph over oppression or at least provide an audience with hope but also realistic levels of hope," she told IndyStar last year.

Wood's other credits include "Loving and Loving," a play inspired by the Loving v. Virginia case regarding interracial marriage, and a recent performance with Wayne Brady in "Kinky Boots" at the Hollywood Bowl, according to BroadwayWorld.
