EVANSVILLE — Mayor Stephanie Terry joined nearly 300 other Democratic mayors from around the United States in endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's next nominee for president.
In a news release, the Democratic Mayors Association shared its statement, as well as the full list of mayors who signed on.
“As mayors, we are the closest to the people and understand better than most that too much is at stake for our communities to endure another Donald Trump presidency," the statement reads. "Our rights, freedoms, and very democracy are on the line."
The statement adds that they are "fully confident that progress started by Biden will continue under Harris' leadership."
"She has been the president's partner: delivering historic investments for our cities, championing working people, and fighting to protect our freedoms. We know she will continue to be a strong ally of mayors and cities," the letter states. "She is more than ready to lead our country. We look forward to working with her to ensure we defeat Donald Trump and his extreme agenda this November."
Terry is joined on the list by several other Indiana mayors.

Harris, who Biden has endorsed to replace him on the Democratic ticket, will speak in Indiana this week. She'll appear in front of the historically Black sorority Zeta Phi Beta at a private event in Indianapolis.
This will make Indianapolis one of Harris' first stops since announcing she would run for president.
