The Indianapolis Colts brought back an established fan-favorite during the offseason, signing cornerback Kenny Moore II to a 3-year extension worth $30 million.

It was a nice reward for Moore after a bounce-back season in 2023, where he had 3 interceptions (taking 2 of them to the house against the Panthers), 93 tackles, 6 pass breakups and 1.5 sacks. Now 28, and the most experienced player in the Colts secondary, Moore could still have plenty of good years left; for at least the next 3, he’ll be spending them in Indy.

During the Wednesday edition of The Ride With JMV, John spoke to Kenny Moore, who elaborated on some of the things that brought him back to Indy.

“I think with free agency, you think it’s ‘Oh yeah, I’ll be alright, I can play football, they know I can play football. I’ll be good regardless.’ But then like you have those times where you’re like ‘You know what, I’ve got so many roots in Indy, I’ve played so much good ball in Indy, where I want to continue that.’ And then you start talking about after football’s done, you want to have those same roots and connections. I think it was bigger than football for me.”

Kenny also spoke about how important his comfort level with the team was in his decision to re-sign here.

“I think comfort and just knowing what you have, and knowing what you have brings comfort. I know what we have in this team as far as the head coach, I wanted to play for the head coach first and foremost, and then I wanted to play for the team. There are so many players that I love to play with, people that I care about off the field, and then obviously the community and the roots that’s here in Indianapolis. It was easy for me to choose Indy, there was more money elsewhere, but I just knew what I had here in Indianaoplis that I really wanted to protect, and it’s something that I value.”
