INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis-based artist is creating art and transforming cities throughout America. From Las Vegas to Nashville to New York, Kwazar Martin’s murals have become a powerful tool in beautifying urban spaces, making him one of the most sought-after muralists in the United States.

The 42-year-old is primarily known for his ability to paint wall-sized portraits of celebrities. Some of his most celebrated work in the Circle City has featured Indiana Fever player Caitlin Clark and Indianapolis Colts player Anthony Richardson.

“I chose all active players. Nobody really does that because of the fear of trading or changes in the league,” said Martin. “You get a little bit more out of it, something that will be more engaging with what’s currently going on. I chose all in-game photos because of the intensity in their eyes.”

Martin’s journey as an artist ignited in childhood when he discovered his passion for creativity. He began painting murals during the height of distress for many during the pandemic. His biggest inspiration for continuing to create is his mom. “She’s been watching me do this stuff for a long time. She messaged me and said she was watching the game, and my wall popped up there. That’s a big deal to me,” said Martin.

The street artist encourages developing artists to continue working even when there is little support. “You’re going to go through moments when it’s just you. The dream is yours and nobody else’s; don’t look to the outside because everything you need is inside you already. Support is awesome, but sometimes it’s not always there,” exclaimed Martin.
