Travis Kelce is scoring his first acting TV touchdown with mega-producer Ryan Murphy.

The Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs tight end and former reality TV star appears in Murphy’s FX series “Grotesquerie,” which is led by Niecy Nash-Betts. Kelce will also host Prime Video series “Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?,” and expanded his film slate by serving as an executive producer on SXSW -selected indie film “My Dead Friend Zoe.”

The official synopsis for “Grotesquerie” reads: “A series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon (Nash-Betts) feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone — or something — is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.”

Courtney B. Vance, Lesley Manville, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, anad Raven Goodwin also star.

The series was created by Murphy along with Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, with all of them also executive producing along with actors Nash-Betts and Vance, Alexis Martin Woodall, Max Winkler, Peter Liguori, Nissa Diederich, Eric Kovtun, and Scott Robertson.

Murphy directs the show along with Winkler, Martin Woodall, and Elegance Bratton.

20th Television is the studio. The 10-episode series will debut on FX and later stream on Hulu. It will be available internationally on Disney+.

“Grotesquerie” is Murphy’s first original for FX since setting an overall deal at Disney after his Netflix deal wrapped. Murphy has a Broadway musical in the works with his “Scream Queens” star Glen Powell ; Murphy is also collaborating with “AHS” alum Kim Kardashian on legal drama “All’s Fair” for Hulu. Kardashian will play a top Los Angeles divorce lawyer at an all-female law firm.

Halle Berry was also set to star, but exited the project. Berry told Entertainment Tonight , “Things happen for a reason. [But] I would have loved to have been there with those ladies, and I know it’s going to be great. [It’s] Ryan Murphy! I mean, you know, duh, but next time!”

“Grotesquerie” premieres September 25 on FX at 10 p.m. ET/PT and will be available to stream the next day on Hulu. Check out the teaser below.
