Walton Goggins Couldn’t Believe His Hotel Bill After Filming ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3

Walton Goggins is a guest playing a guest in “The White Lotus” Season 3… but that didn’t mean production footed his whole bill.

The Emmy-nominated actor said during “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in the below video that filming the third season of the hit HBO series cost him a surprising amount of money.

“You get to stay at a five-star [hotel],” Goggins said, citing the Thailand-based Four Seasons where the show was filmed, “but what they don’t tell you when you when you check in to the White Lotus is how expensive it is to check out of the White Lotus.”

Case in point: Goggins’ room service bill. The “Fallout” star said that while him and his co-stars — including Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb, and Michelle Monaghan — didn’t have to pay for their hotel rooms, the actors were responsible for their personal incidental charges.

“I swear this is a true story — not just for me but for everybody — six weeks into it, I go to pay my bill. I looked at my bill and I started laughing,” Goggins said. “Literally, [a hotel staffer] handed me the bill and I started laughing like, ‘Ha, yeah right! You guys are joking.'”

He added as an example of his bewilderment, “You’re telling me Thai spiced cashews cost that much money? I thought I had maybe, like, five. And they said, ‘No, you had 30.'”

Goggins did admit, though, that filming the highly-anticipated series was a “really good time,” regardless of the extra costs incurred.

“I can’t tell you about the story of the character that I’m playing because I think [creator] Mike White would literally take one of us out,” said Goggins.

“The White Lotus” Season 3 is set in Thailand due to a $4.4 million tax rebate that led production to change countries from Japan. The season will debut in 2025 .

Goggins previously told the LA Times that he was “crying uncontrollably” from excitement after first being offered a role on Season 3.

“It’s all very meta on every level . We’re guests checking into a hotel playing guests checking into a hotel,” Goggins said. “We spend all this time together, whether we like it or not, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. We work where we stay.”

While the plot of the third installment of the anthology series has been kept under wraps, creator Mike White did tease to Entertainment Weekly that the season will be a “supersized ‘White Lotus.’ It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing.”

The third installment will focus on “death and Eastern religion and spirituality,” as White also shared during a post-finale Season 2 featurette . “The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,” White said. “I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
