After ‘Beckham,’ Victoria Beckham Is Getting Her Own Netflix Docuseries

Victoria Beckham, whose dad drove a Rolls Royce while she was growing up, is getting her own Netflix docuseries.

Beckham co-starred in her husband David Beckham’s documentary series on Netflix , simply titled “Beckham.” Now it’s Posh Spice’s turn to be No. 1 on the call sheet, as revealed by the streamer Wednesday at the 2024 Edinburgh TV Festival. It’s the kind of news the UK definitely gets to announce while the rest of us are still sleeping.

Netflix will soon begin production on the untitled documentary series, which will follow Victoria Beckham’s fashion and beauty business. It boasts “an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Victoria’s business, access to Victoria, her family, those closest to her and her fashion journey and including never-before-seen archive.”

Victoria, “Posh” of the mega-hit ’90s girl group the Spice Girls, is the creative director of her own brand.

Nicola Howson, who also did “Beckham,” will executive produce the new docuseries. She’s our in.

Julia Nottingham, who has also done some excellent docuseries as well — her credits include “Pamela: A Love Story” and The Greatest Night in Pop” — will join Howson in the endeavor. It will be produced by Studio 99 and Dorothy St Pictures. David Beckham owns Studio 99, so it’s not exactly an unbiased banner. But “Beckham” was very well done, except for maybe two glaring flaws .

David Beckham has a few “99” brands; the number there refers to 1999, when his Manchester United won three trophies in a single season. Across the pond, that’s known as a “treble.”

“Beckham” was a four-part documentary series that aimed to tell “the inside story of a global football star and cultural icon.” It was released by the streaming service on October 4, 2023, and spent its first six weeks on Netflix’s Top 10 (English) TV shows chart.

“David Beckham is one of the most known names on the planet, yet few people know who he really is,” that synopsis continues. “From his humble working-class beginnings in east London, his drive and determination to win, and the battle to find balance between ambition, love and family, David’s story is one of immense ups and downs. The series takes you on that rollercoaster and builds a surprising, personal and definitive story of one of the most recognisable and scrutinised athletes of all time.”

Don’t mind the British spellings there, fellow Americans: we’re not the entire world. Fisher Stevens (“Succession”) directed “Beckham.”

Victoria Beckham’s docuseries does not yet have an episode count, or really any additional details. Fans will have to wait on announcements. Or perhaps they should take a more proactive approach and tell Netflix what they want, what they really, really want .
