The first night of softball sectionals is in the books and while it didn't deliver a ton of surprises, necessarily, there were some eye-catching performances and notable finals. Let's take a quick run through the night's happenings…

'I was in a dream': Addy Poe's all-around performance sends Roncalli to sectional semis

Bauer pitches a perfect game: Mooresville 14, Martinsville 0

A perfect game is a perfect game and Mooresville's Reagan Bauer was perfect against Martinsville in the Class 4A Sectional 13 opener, striking out nine of the 21 batters she faced, while also picking up a hit and scoring a run herself. Maddie Pierini had three hits and four RBIs, while Madison Poulson, Tatum Humphrey, Zoey Kugelman and Cierra Carmer all had two hits, with Cramer adding three RBIs.

That felt like an important performance for the Pios, whose final week of the regular season consisted of a 9-1 loss at Cascade, an extra-innings win over Whiteland, a 13-3 win over Whiteland and a loss at Terre Haute North.

MHS plays Bloomington North in the semifinals (Tuesday, 8 p.m.).

More: Central Indiana scores, schedule, coverage

Tesnar twirls a no-hitter: Heritage Christian 7, Park Tudor 0

This could be a lead-off candidate for Player of the Week nominations. Heritage Christian senior Alayna Tesnar no-hit Park Tudor in the opening game of the Class 2A Sectional 42 tournament, issuing just three walks and striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She also went 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, a run scored and three RBIs.

Freshman Naomi Swisher had three hits, Ariweyn Thompson added a couple hits and two RBIs, as well.

Heritage Christian vs. Triton Central at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Winner will be declared favorite to advance to regional.

Warriors nearly hunt down Bruins: Tri-West 4, Danville 2 (Class 3A Sectional 25)

Yeah, so this one had my attention during the latter stages of the Roncalli-Franklin Central game. Danville cashed in on errors during the fifth and sixth innings to make it a two-run game, then put a runner on with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give themselves one last chance.

Madalynn Newman had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for Danville, which finishes 15-11.

OU commit Audrey Lowry pitched seven innings for Tri-West, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with a walk and nine strikeouts. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate (she's been super dialed in) with a double and a walk. Emma Frye doubled, homered, scored a run and drove in another. Taylor Bennett and Ava Hensley also posted RBIs for the Bruins, who'll face Crawfordsville next.

Mudsock aces spin consecutive gems: Fishers 12, Carmel 2; Hamilton Southeastern 6, Westfield 0

Butler commit Kate Murray allowed just two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and a walk in Fishers' Class 4A Sectional 8 quarterfinals win over Carmel; her Hamilton Southeastern counterpart Grace Swedarsky registered a two-hit shutout of Westfield with 12 strikeouts and a couple walks.

Let's start with Fishers, which bucked a recent trend of slow starts by racing out to a 3-0 lead over Carmel, with Taylor Duplessis and K. Jordan doing the first-inning damage. Carmel scratched across runs in the third and fourth vs. Murray, but the Tigers scored twice in the sixth and six more times in the seventh to ice the lopsided win. Jenna Grubb and Adrienne Cook both enjoyed three-hit days, Murray homered and Tori Abel and Hailey Kinder both had two hits and two RBIs.

As for HSE, the offensive outburst was certainly encouraging. Alex Kiemeyer homered, logged another hit and posted three RBIs, S. Stock clocked a couple hits as did Addy Justice. By night's end, the Royals had generated six runs on 13 hits. Not bad, especially with Zionsville and sophomore ace Leah Helton looming.

EH escapes Class 2A Sectional 41 opener: Eastern Hancock 4, Hagerstown 0

McKenna Stewart pitched a three-hit shutout with a walk and 15 strikeouts, Brooklyn Willis, Addison Trackwell, Emree Truitt and Alina Alford all drove in runs and Eastern Hancock held on for a 4-0 win over Hagerstown.

The Tigers had a runner on third in the first inning (Camryn Blue picked her off) and the tying run at bat in the sixth (Stewart struck out Pyle).

Eastern Hancock vs. Shenandoah on Wednesday.

Golden Bears' season ends: Columbus North 4, Shelbyville 0

A run in the fourth and three more in the fifth were enough to lift the Bull Dogs to a four-run win over Shelbyville in the Class 4A Sectional 14 opener. Kelsey Lovelace was very good for CN, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bailee Scruggs pitched the shutout. She gave up seven hits, struck out one and walked only two.

Kenna Clark and Addison Stieneker led Shelbyville with two hits apiece; Cheyenne Eads allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out 16.

    Tuesday's best offerings

    • Sectional 8: Noblesville vs. Fishers & Zionsville vs. Hamilton Southeastern
    • Sectional 12: Avon vs. Plainfield
    • Sectional 13: Center Grove vs. Bloomington South

    • Sectional 40: Lapel vs. Frankton
    • Sectional 42: Triton Central vs. Heritage Christian
