Gallery Pastry Shop is down to two locations after the closure of its Mile Square restaurant earlier this week.

According to a note posted on Gallery Bistro and Bar's front door at 110 S. Pennsylvania St., the restaurant's last day of service was Aug. 11. The letter, attributed to Gallery staff, cited financial issues for the closure.

"We will truly miss being in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis, but with the current economic conditions, we have decided to focus on our two restaurants up North," the note read.

Owner Alison Keefer opened Gallery Pastry Shop with chef Ben Hardy in SoBro in 2016, then expanded into downtown in 2020 with Gallery Bistro and Bar.

The chic restaurant and bar, situated across from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, served a blend of Gallery's renowned desserts as well as brunch, lunch and dinner options, plus an extensive drink menu. In 2021, Gallery opened a third brunch-focused location in the Near Northside at 319 E. 16th St. and in March 2023 relocated the original pastry shop to Meridian Kessler, where it now resides at 4573 N. College Ave.

At least some staff members from the closed Bistro and Bar will relocate to Gallery's SoBro-Meridian Kessler and Near Northside eateries, according to the letter.
