'Enjoy it while it's here.' We'll see cooler weather in Indy this week, but it won't last

It's going to start feeling a little like fall, but only for this week, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Here's what we know.

"Beautiful, sunny weather is in store for most of the week," NWS Indianapolis shared on X , formerly Twitter Monday morning. "Enjoy it while it's here as heat looks to return next week."

Here is the current weather forecast for this week from NWS Indianapolis:

Monday, Aug. 19

Mostly sunny, with a high near 78 degrees and a north wind 6 to 10 mph.

Monday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 57 degrees. North wind 5 to 9 mph.

Tuesday , Aug. 20

Sunny, with a high near 75 degrees. North northeast wind 5 to 9 mph.

Tuesday night it will be mostly clear, with a low around 52 degrees. North northeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

Sunny, with a high near 76 degrees. Calm wind becoming northeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday night should be mostly clear, with a low around 53 degrees. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday, Aug. 22

Sunny, with a high near 79 degrees. Calm wind coming east southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night should be mostly clear, with a low around 56 degrees. East wind 3 to 5 mph.

Friday, Aug. 23

Sunny, with a high near 86 degrees. Calm wind coming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday night it is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 64 degrees. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph.

Saturday, Aug. 24

Mostly sunny, with a high near 89 degrees. Saturday night it will be partly cloudy, with a low around 69 degrees.

Sunday, Aug. 25

Sunny and hot, with a high near 91 degrees.
