If you're heading out on the town over the weekend and you live in Fort Wayne or Indianapolis, Sober Ride Indiana offers a weekly discount voucher for Uber and Lyft .

The goal of this program is to help prevent traffic fatalities in Indiana caused by drinking and driving.

Here's what to know and how to use it.

    What is Sober Ride Indiana?

Sober Ride Indiana was created by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to give would-be impaired drivers a safe way home on high-risk holidays and events, according to their website .

The program currently only works if the ride originates in or has a final destination of Fort Wayne or Indianapolis.

How do I use a Sober Ride Indiana voucher?

The voucher is a $10 ride credit for either Uber or Lyft and is good for only one day and can be used on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday the week it is issued.

If your ride costs more than $10, you are responsible for paying for the rest of your ride.

Credits can only be redeemed between 5 p.m. and 3 a.m. You cannot reserve a Sober Ride or schedule a pickup in advance. Rides are available while supplies last and will reset each day.

Remember, the voucher will only apply to rides that originate in Fort Wayne or Indianapolis or if your destination is either of those two cities.

Visit soberrideindiana.com/redeem to redeem this weekend's code.
