It's going to be another hot day in August across Indiana. Central Indiana will be under another heat advisory.

These central Indiana counties are under a heat advisory today, Aug. 28, 2024: Bartholomew, Boone, Brown, Clay, Daviess, Decatur, Delaware, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Knox, Lawrence, Madison, Marion, Martin, Monroe, Morgan, Owen, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby and Sullivan.
The heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Heat index values up to 105 are expected in the areas included in the heat advisory. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses .
"There is some uncertainty on maximum temperatures and heat index values this afternoon due to the potential for thunderstorms," the advisory said. "Any area where thunderstorms occur this afternoon could see a quick relief from high heat."
These Indiana counties are included in a special weather statement: Dubois, Floyd, Hancock, Jefferson and Scott.
"A strong area of high pressure will continue to hold over the region this week, bringing a prolonged stretch of hot weather, likely the warmest so far this summer," the special weather statement reads.
According to NWS, High temperatures expected today and Thursday should be mostly in the mid and upper 90s, with a few spots possibly nearing 100 degrees.
"These temperatures combined with modest humidity levels will be enough to push peak heat index values into the upper 90s and low 100s each afternoon and early evening," the statement said.
These counties are included on a seven-day hazardous weather outlook : Bartholomew, Boone, Brown, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, Decatur, Delaware, Fountain, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Knox, Lawrence, Madison, Marion, Martin, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren.
According to NWS Indianapolis , thunderstorms are possible all of central Indiana this afternoon through this evening. A few strong storms are possible with damaging winds the main threat, along with cloud to ground lightning and locally heavy rainfall. Storms are possible and may continue through the weekend.
Heat index values this afternoon along and east of the I-69 corridor are expected to exceed 100. The effected areas are included in the heat advisory.
